Our History & Growth
Tenri School is located in Embu Municipality off the Embu-Kiritiri Road, next to the National Cereals and Produce Board Depot. Sponsored by the Kenya Tenri Mission, we started our journey back in 1999 as a humble kindergarten. Since then, the school has grown immensely to become the top school and the pride of Embu County.
Our pioneer class sat for the KCPE in 2007, laying a very prudent academic foundation that has been polished and perfected up to date. In 2015, we proudly registered the highest KCPE mean score in Embu County (392.74). We attribute our sterling performance to the unity of purpose among all our team players.
Leadership & Partnership
The school's day-to-day activities are excellently managed by the head teacher under the guidance of our sponsor's Board of Directors. We strongly believe in working closely with parents in the formation of their children. The Tenri Academy Advisory Committee (TAAC), comprising parent representatives from all classes, ensures parents' interests are fully represented.
We regularly organize courses and seminars led by experienced family educators to help parents navigate current societal issues. School events, such as Sports Days, also provide wonderful opportunities to strengthen the bond between parents and their children.
Holistic Education & Unique Programs
- Guidance & Counselling: Headed by professionally trained teachers and supported by external counsellors and motivational speakers, fostering good discipline and positive academic growth.
- Japanese Language & Exchange: We offer Japanese language classes guided by well-trained teachers, enriched by exchange programs involving students from Japan and America.
- Modern Learning: Comprehensive Computer studies are offered to upper classes to prepare students for the digital age.
- Excellent Care: We provide top-tier boarding facilities and 24-hour clinical services within the school compound through our sister department, Embu Children Clinic – Tenri.
